An Overview on the Professional Poker Tour

Known as another excellent addition to the exciting poker shows that highlight the rising popularity of Texas Holdem poker, the Professional Poker Tour stunned the world of poker with its unique presentation of ultra cool and outstanding poker competitions. Generally known as an outgrowth of the fascinatingly huge spectacle called the World Poker Tour, this offshoot established its own share of success as a commercialized international tournament. Despite its short stint under the limelight, this event has undoubtedly left a mark in the entire poker industry.

Unlike the firmly founded World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker, the Professional Poker Tour specifically caters to professional poker players who have made significant contributions and achievements in the entire professional poker circuit. Furthermore, only the most established poker players who have won international titles and championships were invited to partake in this ultimate showcase of poker dominance and supremacy. With all the rich poker talent available on this show, it was definitely fun and worthwhile to watch this event as some of the most brilliant players of the game engage in highly competitive poker contests.

Initially, the World Poker Tour signed with Travel Channel for the exclusive rights to air the different events and tournaments in the initial season of the Professional Poker Tour. The show made its television debut in July 2006, which eventually went out of air in 2007. Despite the short stint, the tour has added color and life to the entire poker world with its excellent show of exciting games and highly respectable talents.

To make the television presentation a success, the organizers and producers of the Professional Poker Tour have hired some of the most respectable personalities and authorities who are greatly involved in the game. Leading the pack of commentators, actor Matt Corboy was hired to bring a colorful look and respectable feel at the competition. In addition to this major hiring, two-time World Series of Poker champion Mark Seif was also signed to back up Corboy and provide some professional insights into the poker action as it happens. Meanwhile, the reporting skills of Kaye Han was acquired to give some lively updates on the competition as it happens right on the casino floor.

Sad to say, the exciting poker action provided by the Professional Poker Tour came to a halt after its highly anticipated second season was postponed several times already. On the other hand, it is still quite nice to look back and reminisce at the five competitive tournaments that were featured in the very first season of the tour. The freeroll invitational poker tournaments featured by the tour include the World Poker Finals, the L.A. Poker Classic, Bay 101, 3rd Annual Five Star World Poker Classic, and the Mirage Poker Showdown.
