The Professional Poker Tour Season 2 Qualifiers and Its Cancellation
After concluding a successful debut season, the professional poker Tour is very optimistic for its upcoming second installment. Aside from drafting various changes and modifications that would possibly improve their presentation of the different exciting poker tournaments for its upcoming season, the tour added some qualifiers that would enhance the overall appeal of the various games and competitions. Furthermore, it also planned to open its doors to more qualified professional poker players and individuals.
Originally slated for the closing parts of 2006 and the opening months of 2007, the list of potential qualifiers for the upcoming sequel includes lighter requirements, which also aims to preserve and maintain the very high level of competitiveness in every poker tournament. Because of this, it was guaranteed that the level of competition is never compromised while at the same time opening better chances to more players.
First in the list of qualifiers are the champions of the different World Poker Tour events in all of its past seasons. At the same time, the doors are also opened for professional poker players who have finished more than once at a final table event in the fourth season of the tour. Furthermore, the top three players of the WPT Championship tournaments in the third and fourth seasons of the World Poker Tour are also qualified to join the second season of the Professional Poker Tour.
In an effort to give other great and outstanding players the chance to participate in the various tournaments of the Professional Poker Tour, the ten best players listed as WPT Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006 are also allowed to sign up for the different exciting and fun-filled poker tournaments. In addition, the three best players at the main events of the World Series of Poker in 2005 and 2006 are also invited to compete. To make the roster of participants more comprehensive, the lists of top players from highly respectable poker magazines like the All-In Magazine, Bluff Magazine, and Card Player Magazine are given a go signal to join the various events.
Just like the very first season of the Professional Poker Tour, some rules were maintained, putting into consideration the impressive accomplishments of Poker Hall of Fame inductees and WPT Poker Walk of Fame inductees. At the same time, all the winners of the first season were automatically invited to be part of the highly anticipated second season. However, due to some unavoidable circumstances, the much-awaited sequel never pushed through. This inability to continue put an end to what could have been another huge poker event.
