Ted Forrest: How He Won the Professional Poker Tour Mirage Poker Showdown

Born out of the friendly city of Syracuse in New York State, Ted Forrest became the fifth and last champion of the professional poker Tour when he bagged the title at the 2005 Mirage Poker Showdown in Las Vegas, Nevada. Being an invitational no-limit Texas Holdem event, this poker tournament promises to end in another classic battle as a little less than 200 talented and highly skilled professional poker players converged in one luxurious venue for an extremely high level of poker competition. Even though this was a freeroll event, the participants still played their best to provide a great show in this highly anticipated all-professional contest.

From May 26 to 27, all the participants fought excellently against each other, with over $485,000 worth of prizes to be given away. As the action picked up rather slowly, a little more preparation and timing helped the event organizers separate the good players from the best. While some of the outstanding players fell out of the race for the title during the elimination round, the action is building up for one final showdown of supreme poker talents and skills. From 174 very eager participants, the roster was trimmed down to six on their way to a grand and exciting finish.

Right from the opening moments of the final table match, the world of poker is already preparing to crown the 2005 Mirage Poker Showdown champion, which can also be referred to as the winner of all winners as only the best and brightest players of the game were invited to partake in this glorious poker occasion. Aside from his unique skills and strategies, Forrest was ready to show that he can really play with the greatest competitors of poker. While he has already achieved a lot in terms of titles and victories prior to this exciting poker tournament, he plans to continue his winning ways by grabbing this title.

Despite Forrest's determination to win the 2005 Mirage Poker Showdown, the road was not that easy as the high requirements and standards set by the Professional Poker Tour made it harder than usual to win the different poker events. Aside from Forrest, the likes of Chris Tsiprailidis and Blair Rodman were also making some impressive quests for the title. Not to be outdone, Randy Jensen, David Levi, and Tom Franklin were also giving out their best to defend their prestigious campaigns for the illustrious title.

However, the well-timed plays and effective strategies of Forrest proved too much for his opponents, allowing him to win the tournament in one of the classiest manner ever. Aside from his impervious way of handling the cards, he was also able to withstand every attack that his fellow finalists threw at him. Besides the title, he was also able to win a grand total of $225,000. Before this impressive title run, Forrest also achieved numerous great victories in other major poker events such as the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour.
